It's a special New Moon with "high energy" Known as Shivaratri

 

A time of change.

The sensing of spring in Europe

Autumn in Australia.

Maha Shivaratri is a special time. It marks the convergence of Shiva and Shakti, Yin & Yang or the masculine and feminine energies that balance the world.

This New Moon was a wonderful time to sit and meditate, some in India sit up all night.

Sadhguru explains that energy flows up our spine and to absorb the energy at this time it is recommended not to lie down but to sit up with a straight spine.

I watched a lot of his 2022 Shivaratri Satsang on YouTube it was amazing, singing, dancing, chanting, meditation for 12 hours, there were so many people. Look it up. 

Have you ever sat in a beautiful place and felt that you were part of something bigger than yourself. That all you had to do was sit and breathe it all in?

This is known as a thin place in ancient England.

The thin place is said to be felt more at this moment in time.

The spirit of the land rather than a god.

I set my alarm, got up early and sat in my meditation space at 4.00 am as the New Moon in Australia was 4.30 am. I watched the sky lighten and the clouds and rain. After a while I closed my eyes and drifted, it was lovely.

I also attended Swami Saradananda's Satsang for yoga teachers via Zoom.

She talked about Tapas

Tapas is about self- discipline.

One of the eight limbs of yoga.

It is connected to the fire energy. Fire changes or transforms things.

We were asked to give something up, a bad habit perhaps, for 2 weeks.

I have decided to TRY and give up negative thinking and not engage in negative talk with others.

It is not easy but interesting to observe.

I should have given up chocolate it would have been much easier!
